Canadian Sue Foley brought her Texas-style blues to Caffe Lena in Saratoga on June 22.
Review by Don Wilcock for the Daily Gazette
Foley opened with “Big Woman Blues” and its lyric, “I’m a rambling woman with a ramblin’ mind” leading into “My Girlish Ways” by Memphis Minnie, which Foley first heard at age 16 growing up in Canada. She said the song is credited to Memphis Minnie’s husband, but Foley doesn’t think so, telling her rapt fans the song was the product of a badass who died in obscurity but become well-known after passing.
