Os Mutantes is a Tropicalia band whose original run was from 1966 to 1978, but reformed in 2006 and has been active ever since (though Sergio Dias is the only remaining member from the original period). On July 12, 2025, they played Lark Hall as part of their East Coast tour. Frequent NYC buskers Pinc Louds opened the show.

Sérgio Dias, the last remaining member of the original lineup, was seated in the middle of the stage, smiling widely alongside his younger bandmates. Now in his seventies, he can still deliver considerable energy and vitality, singing and playing guitar from a drum throne.

For set opener “Time and Space,” keyboardist Henrique Peters’ “Close to the edge” T shirt kind of gave the game away. Featuring cavernous riffs and sun-dappled harmonies, the song would have fit seamlessly on “The Yes Album.”
