Dave was in a talkative mood, at one point mentioning his love for walking “in the forest” around SPAC during the day. Later, he delivered a warning that “somewhere” masked men were grabbing people off the street, adding: “and that place is here.”

After a big crowd sing-along on “#41,” the show highlight arrived in the form of “Tripping Billies,” with Matthews and Lessard noticeably joyful as the crowd went wild for the ’90s cut. A funky cover of Zeppelin’s “Fool In the Rain” was another late-set high point.
