Saxless but still undeniably vital, the Psychedelic Furs helped Albany fans revisit the ’80s at the Palace Theatre on October 14. A surprisingly harder-edged-than-expected Gary Numan kicked things off with a bang for his rare appearance in the area.

Butler remains one of rock’s most charismatic frontmen — tall, expressive and theatrical. He still spins, gestures and grins through lyrics that once dripped with irony, transforming the Furs’ dark romanticism into something alive and generous.
