Caffe Lena and the local music community celebrated the life of Joel Moss with a second line, led by Glen David Andrews, from Congress Park to Phila Street. There, both inside and outside of the Caffe, musicians such as Heard, Jeff Brisbin, Michael Eck, Cassandra Kubinski, and the last project Moss worked with, the youth jazz band Jazz Pebbles, paid tribute. Poets, composers, and other speakers shared their memories as well.

The performance that summed up the day was given by Cassandra Kubinski’s rendition of “Both Sides Now”. Joel Moss would have been proud on both sides of the rainbow. I could feel him smiling from the other side.
