On July 5, Grammy-nominated saxman Miguel Zenón, Luis Perdomo (piano), Hans Glawischnig (bass), and Varun Das (drums) showcased “Musica de Las Americas” as part of the Skidmore Jazz Institute‘s Master Class Concerts.

He also eschews the trend of reed players bringing multiple instruments to the stage “just in case.” All Miguel needs is his trusty alto sax, which he used to tear the roof off of Zankel with bright and bouncing solo lines that came from a place of deep thought and stunning originality. If Miguel can’t do it with his alto, it probably can’t be done.
