Nothing says summer in Saratoga Springs better than a three-day stand by Phish at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

The first set started in unorthodox fashion with a very rare “First Tube” opener, allowing guitarist Trey Anastasio to kick the night off with his triumphant (GRAMMY-nominated!) rock instrumental, followed by what amounted to a 20-minute rendition of “Bathtub Gin,” complete with a Trey-led jam on “There is a Mountain” by Donovan.

After opening the first set with the uptempo “Buried Alive,” Phish crashed into “Tweezer Reprise” for what would be the song’s first appearance Sunday. But then it kept reappearing, to the delight of the crowd, with the song ultimately played six times, the effect compounding each time “Tweezer Reprise” was played and the crowd launching into hysterics every time the band returned to it.
