The Preservation Hall Jazz Band of New Orleans kicked off the season for the Saratoga Performing Arts Center Sunday night before a sparse crowd. The seven-member band plays the music that fills the dark streets of New Orleans the way it has been played for years. There have been some personnel changes with the deaths of Billie Pierce and her husband De De, but the sound is still pure. The heart of the seven-man band Sunday night was Frank Demond on trombone, Vie Fraiser on drums and Percy Humphrey on trumpet. Lynyrd Skynyrd and Wet Willie perform tonight at SPAC beginning at 7 p.m.
